Open forum at West End Brisbane

Here are some pictures of some of the group that gathered in West End for the first of Open-Forum-Australia meetings. The evening was attended by aprox 35 people and the feedback so far is that we should hold the meetings again. It was heartening to be with a group of people willing to give time to consider the complex issues that we face as Aboriginal people and to engage in exploring together the things that can be done and the difficulties people face in confronting their own and others ignorance and racism. The evening was heartfelt and in amongst some tears and laughter a sense of hope was generated. A small seed that hopefully will grow. If we want change it needs all of us to make it a part of our daily lives . It will take all of us.

BlakWhite-Who are we? What's Happening?

Blakwhite : a discussion forum will be held in Brisbane Australia to explore the current climate of confusion , opinion and debate over the Government's Emergency Interventions into Northern Territory communities.

We Believe that deeper understanding and mutual care rests on listening deeply to every voice.

Please feel free to come and join us to share on this important issue.

This is part of the " Close the Gap " project day organised with Oxfam who released a report into the health disparities facing Indigenous Australians. More information and links to this and other related topics will be posted in the next few weeks and we invite people's comments and feedback on this topic and "Open Forum" . We would like to offer this work to other communities interested in exploring these issues.
